The Beavers march to a showdown of undefeated teams this weekend against the Shock was subverted by the Agents and mangled by the Big Dogs last weekend as they dropped both ends of a double header to fall to 5-2. The Shock held up their end of the bargain, though, defeating the Warriors 27-8 to stay perfect at 7-0 and remain atop the standings.
Without the services of QB Tony Smith, the Beavers knew they would be in tough - and the Big Dogs drove home that point early and often. In their biggest win to date, the Big Dogs put up 40 points on a team that had only surrendered 33 points in 5 games, taking the game 40-16. It was the fourth win a row for the Big Dogs, who earlier this year pushed the Shock to the brink in a 21-20 loss - an indication that the Dawgs may be ready to bark loudly come playoff time. Next up were the Agents, who defeated the Eagles 36-24 in their first game of the day. A see saw affair saw the Agents eventually win 26-19, moving the squad to 6-1 and second overall behind the Shock.
In other action, the Bruzers overcame a 17-3 second half deficit against the Jager Bombers to squeak out an 18-17 win and the Jokers moved to 4-2 with a 38-13 win over the Bandits.
October 17th scores are as follows: Beavers 20 Eagles 15; Shock 32 Bruzers 23; Agents 61 Warriors 12; Jokers 38 Jager Bombers 20; Warriors 23 Jager Bombers 14; Big Dogs 47 Bandits 17
