Semi-Finals: AGENTS UPSET BIG DOGS; WILL DEFEND TITLE AGAINST BEAVERS

Flag Bowl 2021 is set for Saturday Nov 20th with two teams looking at a date with destiny.

On one side will be the Agents, who are now one step away from repeating as champions.  On the other are the Beavers, a team riding a six-game win streak and looking to win a league-record tying 6th championship.

The Agents overcame a 4-3 regular season finish to survive a close QF match-up with the Warriors and entered last week's semi-final as the underdogs against the top rated Big Dogs.  But they quickly reminded all in attendance why they are the defending champs.  With the Big Dogs offence unable to get rolling, the Agents roared to an 18-0 halftime lead and an interception of a lateral by Mike Melo on the opening kick-off of the second half made it 24-0.  The Big Dogs finally got untracked to put points on the board and executed an on-side kick, which eventually led to another score, but fate wasn't so kind on a second onsider, which the Agents returned for another major.   The Dawgs scored again, but it wasn't enough as the Agents emerged with a 31-20 victory - and a return ticket to the final.

In the other semi-final, the Beavers were on a mission, with the Untouchables standing in their way.   The Beavers carried a lead into halftime, and after stopping the Untouchables on the first series of the second half, extended the lead on a Mark Whelan 40 yard catch and run TD.  The Untouchables came back to score a 5th down TD and close the gap, but the Beavers still had the game well in hand.  Then it seemed that disaster struck as the Untouchables intercepted a pass deep in Beavers territory and punched in another score.  Not be outdone, the Beavers stormed back,  and a spectacular catch by Chris Graham set up another TD for the Beavers.   The Beavers D then held on in response,  giving them a tough 26-17 win and a berth in the championship.

The Beavers and Agents have split their last two meetings.  The Agents squeaked out a 26-25 win in the 2019 semi-finals onroute to their first ever championship,  while the Beavers handed the Agents a convincing 30-13 loss when the teams met in the regular season this year.  Both teams are capable of winning the crown -  but on Saturday, only one will end up wearing it.

With the losses, the Untouchables and Big Dogs will play for the B championship on Saturday, while the Jokers and Warriors meet for the C championship.
