For one team, it's been a long time coming. For the other, the third time was a charm.
And both now find themselves at or near the top of the AFFL standings.
With a huge 47-8 win over the Brusers last Sunday, the Bandits find themselves in unfamiliar territory: over .500 for the first time in their history. The Bandits put it all together offensively and defensively to move to 2-1 on the season and stay among the league leaders. The squad will face a big test this weekend against the Redskins, a potential first round playoff opponent.
The Untouchables stayed perfect by prevailing in a great game against the Beavers by a 29-26 score. Trevor Wood tossed 3 TD passes and Jake Moulton had a TD and an INT for the Untouchables, who got their first win in three tries over the Beavers and avenged last year's semi-final loss to the winners of two of the last three AFFL titles. Sam Totty added 3 sacks for the Untouchables. Jay Graham led the Beavers with 3 FGs, a 2pt and a 1pt convert in the loss.
The Untouchables will look to go to 3-0 when they take on the Brusers next week. The Beavers, meanwhile, face a tough task in getting back in the win column as they take on the Big Dogs in a rematch of last year's AFFL title game and what looks to be the Week 3 game of the week.
In other Week 2 action, the Agents and Big Dogs stay undefeated with convincing wins. The two time defending AFFL regular season champion Agents beat the Redskins 31-12 to move to 2-0. The Redskins got into the win column, though, with a 38-25 win over the Jokers. The Big Dogs won both ends of a doubleheader to move to 3-0. In the first game, Ryan Spataro tossed 5 TD passes, two each to Adam Spataro and Damon McLachlin, in a 46-6 win over Team Green. Spataro then continued his hot streak by throwing for two TDs and running for another two in a 37-10 win over the Warriors.
