BEAVERS UNDEFEATED, CLINCH REGULAR SEASON TITLE

The 2023 AFFL season has had plenty of surprises,  but one constant has remained: the Beavers remain golden.

The Golden Beavers are looking to put last's year's early exit at the hands of the Warriors behind them and claim an unprecedented 7th AFFL title -  and after Week 5 are one step closer to that goal.   The Beavers now sit at 5-0 with two weeks remaining in the regular season and - thanks to a spate of of surprising results among the other contenders,   have claimed the regular season title with two weeks left to go.

Here's how the other teams have fared so far in what has been the most interesting AFFL regular season since the turn of the century:

Agents:   The 2021 champs might want to change their name to Jekyll and Hyde: Tie against Warriors... big win over Untouchables BUT - losses to Jokers and Team Green...who knows what team will show up each week - and that can be dangerous, for both the Agents... and their opponents.

Bandits:   They kicked off the season with a stunning 22-0 shutout over the 2022 AFFL finalist Untouchables,  but have since fallen back to Earth, dropping their last 4.

Big Dogs:  The defending champs suffered an opening loss to the Beavers,  and were upset by the Warriors in Week 4, but have put three wins on the board to sit in 2nd with two weeks to go.

Jokers:   Huge win over Agents has not translated into success against other opponents as the squad have only a tie against Team Green in their other 4 games.

Team Green:   Quietly, Team Green has moved into contention for a Top 4 spot, with solid wins over the Bandits and  Agents and a tie against the Jokers getting the squad to .500 with two weeks to go.

Untouchables:  The 2023 finalist had a rough start to the season, going 1-3 out of the gate, including a 22-0 whitewash at the hands of the Bandits.   A big Week 5 win over the Warriors moved the squad to 2-3, and a top 4 finish is still within reach.

Warriors:   Proving their semi-final appearance last season was no fluke,  the Warriors beat the defending champ Big Dogs 32-30 and tied the Agents and have had great battles against the Beavers and Agents.  Look for them to be in the mix for a top 4 finish at the end of the month.
