BEAVERS SEEK 3-PEAT AS LEAGUE EXPANDS TO 10 TEAMS IN 2015

After a nailbiting 10-1 win over the Big Dogs in Flagbowl 2014,  the Golden Beavers are looking to win a third consecutive AFFL title in 2015.

Can they repeat?

With a defence that simply does not give up points - and the addition of Curtis Shakespeare - there is no reason to doubt that they can't.

The Beavers don't shoot the lights out, but don't have to.  They have given up SIX points in TOTAL in their last two championship game victories -  that's an average of one field goal in each game!   Basically, if they score a touchdown, it's lights out for the other team.  With former Shock stalwart Shakespeare joining the ranks, along with veterans Mark Whelan, Duane Kennedy and the dynamic duo of Chris and Jay Graham, the Beavers are poised for another run.

Not to be outdone are the Big Dogs and Agents.  The Agents were at the top of the league for most of the season last year and lost a barn-burner in the semi's to the Big Dogs.  They look to be battling of the title again.  As for the Big Dogs, the 2012 champs always seem to find a way to be in the thick of things at the end.   They'll be gunning for their fourth consecutive AFFL finals appearance this season.

The AFFL welcomes a new team to the fold in 2015 - the Untouchables.   Jesse Carbone left the Beavers and young guns Trevor Wood and Jake Moulton left the Bruzers to form the corps of a new squad that should be competitive right from the get go.

Indeed, from top to bottom, the AFFL may be as deep and competitive as it has ever been. The Jokers, featuring 2014 AFFL MVP Jeff Verstraten, will be in the hunt, as will the ever improving Redskins.  Team Green and the Bandits are athletic and energetic and will be looking to surprise teams this year.   Finally, the stalwart Bruzers and Warriors have a mix of youth and wily veteran smarts that promise to give teams fits as well.

The quest for the John Boylan Cup starts this Sunday - question is, whose name will be on it come November 21st?  Let the games begin!
