Don't look now, but there's a team gunning for first place right along with the Big Dogs after Week 4 of the AFFL season. And they proved last week that the Untouchables are, in fact, touchable after all.
The Agents have been a perennial contender for the AFFL championship, but have never quite been able to go over the top. On Sunday, they served notice they plan to contend again. With QB Jay Cunningham back at the helm full time and some stingy defence, they took on the Untouchables in a battle of perfect teams. The Agents defence held the Untouchables juggernaut offence to one score, while Cunningham tossed a couple of TDs in reply, resulting in a 20-7 win for the Agents. This moves the Agents to 3-0 while dropping the Untouchables to 3-1.
The Big Dogs stayed atop the standings and in first place with a convincing 37-0 win over the Warriors, who were looking to move into a potential first place position with a win. The veteran Big Dogs proved too much for a young Warrior squad on this day. In other action, the defending champion Beavers finally found their stride and got their first win of the season, having the last laugh on the Jokers by a score of 36-21. Also, the Bandits got into the win column with a tough 12-4 win over Team Green in a defensive struggle that dropped Team Green to 1-3.
Week 5 play will see the Bandits and the Agents play a doubleheader as teams will all have five games under their belt heading into the Thanksgiving break. The Warriors will try to move past the Untouchables with a win as the two teams meet, while the Jokers look to get into the win column, but face a tall task against the 4-0 Big Dogs.
