Week 3: WARRIORS COME OUT TO PLAY AND DEFEAT BEAVERS

The AFFL had a full slate of games last Sunday and after three weeks of play there are a few surprises.  There has only been one where a team has scored more than 30 points. The revamped Jokers are still trying to find their stride and are still looking for their first win. And the suddenly younger Warriors are emerging as a contender - as demonstrated by a big win over the Beavers who,  very surprisingly,  remain winless.

The Big Dogs kept rolling and stayed perfect, becoming the first team to score 30 or more points this season with a 37-8 win over the Bandits.  Ryan Spataro was at the helm for the Big Dogs and tossed 5 TDs in the win, including three to brother Adam. Igor Jankovich chipped in with a TD, FG and three one point converts.

Two other teams stayed perfect as well.  The Untouchables kept on track with their goal of getting back to the championship game with a 27-20 win over Team Green. Trevor Wood tossed 3 TD passes and had an interception in the win.    The Agents moved to 2-0 with a 25-15 win over the Jokers. Jay Cunningham tossed four TDS to four different recievers, while new Jokers QB Brian Cook tossed two TDs in a losing cause.

The Beavers were looking to get in the win column against a surging Warriors team in a game that came right down to the wire.   With the additions of former TNT Express tackle football stars Hayden Bristow and Thomas Troop to an emerging group of young talent including Brody Knox and Tefik Amidovski,  along with some wily veterans, the Warriors went blow for blow with the AFFL champs.   With the Beavers leading 17-10 with three minutes to go, veteran QB Marty Patience found Amidovski for his second TD score to tie things up. The Warriors then executed a successful onside kick and Patience went to work again, finding newcomer Troop for the go ahead score.  The Warriors defence then had to hold the champs - and they did - giving the Warriors a big 24-17 win to move the squad to 2-1.

Week 4 promises to be a barn burner with all four games figuring to be great tilts.  The Warriors will be tested again as they take on the Big Dogs;  one team will break its winless streak when the Jokers take on the Beavers;  another team's winning streak will come to an end when the Agents take on the Untouchables; while the Bandits look to leapfrog Team Green in the standings when the two teams meet.
