UNTOUCHABLES WIN; BEAVERS TAKE TWO TO OPEN SEASON

An expansion team calling itself The Untouchables seems to be either pretty damn sure of itself - or is putting a target on itself and setting up for disaster.

After Week One at least, the moniker seems to fit.

The Untouchables took on the "C" Champion Redskins in a game that was closer than the final indicates.  However, the AFFL's newest team pulled away in the end to win 32-12 and record its first victory in its first try.

Four other teams emerged from the opening weekend with undefeated records.  The defending champion Golden Beavers quickly took up residence atop the AFFL standings with two big wins on the weekend - 34-7 over Team Green and 30-7 over the Bruzers.    The Big Dogs,  last year's AFFL finalists, started things off with a 31-3 win over the Bandits.  The Agents, last year's regular season champs, kicked their high octane offence into gear with a 44-13 win over the Warriors.   Finally, the Jokers, a team always in the hunt for the title, opened up with a 36-22 win over the Bandits.

In Week 2,  the Redskins face tough tests in a doubleheader against the Jokers and Agents; the Big Dogs are looking to stay perfect against the Warriors and Team Green while the Bruzers and Bandits look to get a win under their belts when they face each other.

The game of the week, though, should be the Beavers versus the Untouchables.  Both confident, both undefeated - and both looking to stay that way.   Come Monday,  we'll see if the Untouchables moniker still holds up.
