WEEK 7: BIG DOGS STAY PERFECT IN QUEST TO REPEAT

The Big Dogs completed a perfect regular season on Sunday to sit at 9-0 and the odds on favourite to repeat as AFFL champs.

But entering the playoffs, the Beavers, Agents and Untouchables may have something to say about that - with darkhorses in the Redskins, Jokers and Bandits lurking in the shadows.

The Big Dogs moved to 9-0 by virtue of a 33-16 win over the Bruzers. It is their first regular season title and perfect regular season.  Quietly keeping pace with Dawgs are the Beavers, who defeated the Redskins 26-8 for their 5th win in a row to finish second overall at 7-2.   The Big Dogs and Beavers are the top two seeds and appear headed for a 4th consecutive AFFL final showdown.

Standing in their way on the Agents and Untouchables.   These two teams clashed on Sunday, with the Agents ending a three game losing streak with a 21-18 win to clinch 3rd place.   The Untouchables finished fourth, but the sophmore squad has the talent to compete with anyone and will be a dangerous playoff foe.

The battle for the last two automatic playoff spots came down to games between the Warriors and Redskins and Warriors and Bandits.     The Warriors needed to win both to clinch an automatic berth, but fell short - losing on the last play of the game 28-27 to the Redskins and 28-20 to the Bandits.  Both the Redskins and Bandits finished 5-4, with Redskins claiming 5th by virtue of win over Bandits.

The Jokers managed to go into the playoffs on a high note, winning both ends of doubleheader with a 31-0 win over the Bruzers and 34-15 win over Team Green.

So, the wild card games on November 5th will see #7 Jokers take on #10 Bruzers, with #8 Warriors taking on #9 Team Green.   The Quarter-Finals will see the winner of the Jokers/Bruzers game will play #2 Beavers to complete their doubleheader, while the #1 Big Dogs get the winner of the Warriors/Team Green game.   Other QF action will see #3 Agents take on the #6 Bandits, who defeated the Agents earlier this year, and the #4 Untouchables vs the #5 Redskins.
