DEFENDING CHAMPS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO 18 TO OPEN 2017 SEASON

The two-time defending champion Big Dogs kicked of the 2017 AFFL season the same way they ended 2016 - perfectly.  And with two wins on opening day, the Dawgs extended their winning streak to 18 games.

Week 1 saw some marquee match-ups.   First off, arch-rivals the Beavers and Big Dogs met in what most year's is a potential Flag Bowl preview.   The Dogs kept their recent dominance of the series intact with a 30-14 win, followed by a 28-11 win over the rebuilding Warriors to move to 2-0.   In the process, they tied the Tottenham Express (2001-2003) for the second longest winning streak in league history at 18 games, but still well behind the all-time record of 30 set by the Shock (2008-10).

In other action, the Bandits proved that last year's turn around season was no fluke as they handed the Bruzers a resounding 42-8 loss.  The Untouchables served notice that they are ready to take a run at the league leaders as they upended the Agents, last year's finalists, by a 30-26 count.  Finally, the Jokers sent notice that they are looking to get back into the league's top tier with a 37-16 win over Team Green.
