Week 7: BIG DOGS TOP DAWGS, BEAVERS GNAWING AT HEELS ENTERING PLAYOFFS

The 2017 AFFL regular season came to a close on October 29th with first place still up for grabs.  But the two-time defending champion Big Dogs left no doubt who was top dawg entering the playoffs - with the Beavers busily chopping their way to the #2 playoff seed, setting the stage for familiar yet potent playoff match-ups.

The Big Dogs needed a win against the Bandits to seal first place after a Week 6 loss to the Agents ended their 22 game win streak.  After giving up 33 points to the Agents, the defence turned in a stellar performance in a 29-0 win that locked up the top playoff seed.  Good thing too, as the Beavers demolished the Jokers 37-11 to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games, finishing a point behind the Big Dogs for the #2 seed.   The Agents locked up third place with a 31-14 win over the winless Bruzers, while the Untouchables moved into 4th place with a 55-19 win over the Bruzers.  The Warriors had a shot at avoiding a wild card game, but Team Green dashed those hopes with a 26-16 win over the Warriors, moving up to 6th and dropping the Warriors to 8th.

So, Week 1 playoff action on November 5th  will see  the #8 Warriors take on the #9 Bruzers in the wild card game, with the winner facing the top seeded Big Dogs in quarter-final action. The other quarter-finals will see the  #2 Beavers vs #7 Bandits; #3 Agents vs #6 Team Green; and #4 Untouchables vs #5 Jokers.

Quarter-final winners will square of in semi-final action on November 12th, with quarter-final losers advancing to the consolation semi-finals.
