There were no surprises in AFFL quarter-final playoff action last Sunday as the top seeds all advanced to the semi-finals this coming Sunday.
The top rated Big Dogs advanced with a hard fought 14-1 win over the Bandits. The Big Dogs had finished the regular season at 6-1 after having to default their Week 7 win over the Untouchables due the inadvertent use of an ineligible player. Their opponents in the semis will be the defending champion Agents.
The Agents entered the playoffs on a two game losing streak with losses to the Big Dogs and Beavers, which dropped them down to 4th place, and faced a tough battle against the upstart Warriors, who were missing QB Marty Patience for the showdown. It was a see-saw affair, but in the end the veteran Agent squad held on for a 26-18 win.
In other action, the #2 rated Beavers, riding a 4 game win streak, kept on rolling against Team Green with a 33-12 victory and will take on the #3 Untouchables, who avenged a Week 6 loss to the Jokers by returning the favour with a convincing 41-14.
Semi-final action gets underway at noon with the Beavers taking on the Untouchables, followed by the Big Dogs and Agents at 1:30.
