BEAVERS DAM UP AGENTS TO WIN 2021 AFFL FLAG BOWL

It was a season that almost wasn't -  but one that ended with two teams chasing history.

After being on hiatus in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic,  the Alliston Flag Football League was determined to have its 39th season in 2021 and put together a plan to do just that.

"It took a lot of work and preparation to put this together, and now that it is over I am so glad we did," said Bill Muir, who is known as "The Commish" and has been the driving force behind the league for the last 30 years.  "Another great year in the books."

In the championship game, the defending champion Agents were looking to be only the 6th team ever to repeat as champions against the Beavers, who with a win would tie the Sorcerers for an all-time league record of six AFFL titles.

And when the dust settled, it was the Beavers staking claim to their place in history with a decisive 11-0 victory to claim that coveted 6th crown.

The title was the Beavers sixth championship since 2003, tying the Sorcerers for the most league titles.  The Sorcerers dominated the league's first decade, winning all their titles between 1984 and 1991.  In addition,  standout Chris Graham claimed his 9th overall AFFL championship, adding a 4th title as a Beaver to the five championships he won as a member of the Shock.   He is now tied with former teammate Neil Pendlebury, who won four championships with the Tottenham Express and then went on to win five titles with the Shock.

In the day's other games, the Big Dogs ousted the Untouchables 22-14 to win the B title and the Warriors scored on the last play of the game to beat the Jokers in the C Final 23-22.
