With the AFFL resuming play after the Thanksgiving break, there are some key match ups to watch.
Golden Beavers (5-0) vs Big Dogs (3-1)
In a rematch of last year's championship game, the Beavers are looking to prove that their undefeated record is no fluke and that they have the pedigree to return to the championship game. This will be the first true test for a the Beavers #1 rated defence, which has only surrendered 36 points in 5 games. For the Big Dogs, they are looking to rebound from their last play loss to the Untouchables in Week 4 and will need to win in order to have any chance of finishing first overall.
Untouchables (5-0) vs Agents (3-2)
Untouchables are coming off their biggest win in franchise history and are facing an Agents team that has not been the traditional potent force it usually is in AFFL play. Part of that is due to working in a new QB in Shane Stone with Jay Cunningham not being available early in the season. However, Cunningham is on the Agent's roster and could make his first appearance of the season this week. Still, the Agents defence will need a much better effort than it has shown against the powerhouses Big Dogs and Beavers if it is going to have any chance of knocking off the league's #1 offence. As for the Untouchables, this could be a trap game. They do not want to get caught looking ahead to next week's potential first place showdown against the Beavers by taking the Agents too lightly.
Bandits (0-4) vs Bruzers (0-4)
Both teams have struggled offensively, but have turned in some decent defensive efforts despite neither team having a win. After surrendering 51 with only 6 men against the Untouchables, the Bandits D has only surrendered and average of 13 pts a game in their other 3 contests. With the Bruzers offence averaging less than 5 points a game, they will need to find their stride and overcome the stingy Bandits defense in order to get into the win column for the first time this year.
