Week 6 Recap: BEAVERS STAY GOLDEN AND CLINCH REGULAR SEASON TITLE

The Golden Beavers clinched first place overall with a 30-21 win over the previously undefeated Untouchables last Sunday to get back to the top of the AFFL standings and clinch the 2018 regular season title.   It's said that defence wins championships, and it was the Beavers D that came up big against the high powered Untouchables, proving to be the difference.

Both teams offences came out ready to play and exchanged majors early and often, with the Beavers taking a 20-18 lead into halftime.  The Untouchables marched to the Beavers 15 to start the second half, but had to settle for a field goal to take a slim 21-20 lead.   After stopping the Beavers, the Untouchables marched again but were stuffed on 3 consecutive attempts from the 10 keep the game a one point affair.   The Beavers responded with a march of their own, finished off by a Curtis Shakespeare TD to make the score 27-21.  And then, Chris Graham picked off Trevor Wood on the next series, which resulted in a Jay Graham FG and a 30-21 win.  The Untouchables couldn't recover, and the Beavers moved to 7-0 and clinched first place.  The Untouchables fall to 6-1, but have clinched 2nd overall despite the loss.

In other action, the Big Dogs clinched 3rd place with a 47-14 win over the Bruzers;  the Agents have sights solidly locked on 4th place with a 20-1 win over the Jokers;  the Warriors slid into 5th with a 30-7 win over the Bruzers;  and the Bandits got their first win of the season with a 27-6 decision over an injury riddled Team Green.
