Heavy is the head that wears the crown - as the Beavers found out in Week 2 of the 2022 AFFL season.
In a match-up of last season's AFFL championship game, the defending champion Beavers found themselves up against the 2019 champion Agents - and both teams came out with guns blazing. Unlike the 11-0 championship win by the Beavers, this game was a see saw affair with both teams putting up points - and in the end the Agents scored just a little more. The Beavers scored late and tried an onside kick, but a great crossfield lateral by Gord Bailey to Steve Koening got the Agents out of danger and sealed the deal in a great 34-26 victory.
With the win the Agents move to 2-0 and the Beavers drop to 1-1.
Not to be outdone, the Big Dogs staked out their territory atop the league standings with two big wins. The first came against arch-rivals the Untouchables, who did not have any answers on this day to the Dawgs offence as the Big Dogs came away with a 26-15 win. In the second game, the Dawgs kept rolling, mauling the Warriors by a 30-8 count. The wins move the Big Dogs to 3-0 and 1st place in league standings.
In other action, Team Green got into the win column with a tough 15-11 win over the Bandits, while the Jokers notched a 21-0 win over a short handed Team 9, who were forced to forfeit.
